MAGNUM 2014 ESTATE MAYOTE

"The 2014 Mayote is a total, jaw-dropping good blockbuster that readers need to taste. Made from an unusual blend of 56% Syrah, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot that spent 22 months in 100% new French oak, it offers killer notes of creme de cassis, toasted spice and wild herbs in a massively concentrated, voluptuous, rounded, sexy wine that expands on the palate, while never seeming heavy or cumbersome." —Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Mayote was the nickname of family matriarch Marie Daou. She always encouraged the Daou brothers to dream big, setting them on a course that would ultimately lead them to DAOU Mountain. As a blend of Bordeaux and Rhône varieties, Mayote exhibits a unique balance of strength and gracefulness—just like the woman for whom it is named. The 2016 vintage offers long, layered flavors of blackberry, cassis, graphite and licorice with exquisitely integrated tannins. While this wine promises to be approachable in its youth, it will also mature beautifully in the bottle for years to come.
The 2014 DAOU Estate Mayote is a “tour de force” that showcases the best of DAOU Mountain. This blockbuster wine is intensely pigmented and concentrated in aromas. Infused with crème de cassis, toasted spice and wild herbs in an uber concentrated blend that is voluptuous yet smooth and elegant on the palate.
