2016 Harvest Update
August often defines the quality of our wines on DAOU Mountain and, like 2014, the latter part of August and early September was cooler than normal. These cooler temperatures allowed us to hang our fruit longer than ever before. The result is beautifully integrated tannins, enticing aromas and the darkest color yet seen on the mountain. 2016 is a “Grand Millesime” – a vintage that produced wines of power and intensity that will be enhanced even further from long term aging. Now that all the fruit on the mountain has been picked, the winery is abuzz with excitement about this year’s vintage. If ever there was a “perfect” vintage, 2016 would be it.
